Knit Dress Variation! :)

Hey SewChloe readers!
(Sorry, I am going crazy about dresses. They are sew easy to make!)
How was your day today? Mine was great! I came up with this little dress and I wanted to share it with you! It is a variation of the knit dress, just a little more complicated.

~Four shirts in coordinating colors
~Coordinating fabric strip

Ok. I made mine out of 4 old uniform shirts and added a little khaki flair to the bottom because it added a little extra uniformess. Don't you think?! So, lets get started!
(Note: The shirts should be the same type so that you don't have to worry about the shirts lining up or being bigger than each other.)

Cut all 4 shirts right under the sleeves to leave you a clean tube. Save one of the tops for the top of the dress.

Cut all 4 body tubes up the middle, making sure that you cut in the middle. Original seams should be on the sides.

Lay one of your rectangles right side up, and lay another color on top, wrong side facing up.

Sew shorts sides up.

Turn it right side out and cut the tube into 3 equal sections. Do this with all of your tubes.
(Note: You will have some strips left over because otherwise your dress is going to be REALLY long! Just make another one! :)

Take two diffrent color strips and pin them at one top all the way around, lining up seams and making sure that the center seams anre lined up. I suggest putting a pin at every seam. Sew.

When you are done, turn it right side out. Already cool!

Keep doing that with 4 more strips, or more if you want. Altrenate with the colors and mess around with the pattern. There are sew many ways to do it! You should have some left over though. Here is my tube after I sewed it together.

Now, cut a length of fabric, maybe 5 inches wide, any it doesn't matter how long. You are going to gather it. Which, I am NOT good at! If you have any tips, PLEASE comment!!

Now, gather it! :)

Sew the ends of the ruffle together and pin it to the bottom of the skirt, making sure that the right sides are together. Sew.

Take your top piece and pin it, right sides together, to the top of the body tube. Sew the seam and turn right side up. You are done! Add any embellishements, like lace or buttons. (If you want.)
So, I hope you try this! It turned out really great! Try diffrent things with the pattern and please leave a comment telling me how you did yours. I would love to know! Also, this is great way to use shirts that you love, but have been ripped or stained! Just don't use the stained strip. :)
Alrighty! Don't forget to subscribe, and I hope you have a great night.
